Ever wondered why everything in the universe is physical not ethereal? Well, its because ethereal is simply less physical ie. less solid rather than more solid, and can pass through more solid objects with ease. So, when it comes to your SOUL which is PHYSICAL and weighs 3/8-3/4 ounce when your physical body dies it then becomes detached from the body and through gravitation descends down through the earth's crust into the bowels of the earth wherein there are lakes of molten lava in which your soul is tormented day and night forever and ever, but in the case of saints and saviours their souls are taken to heaven by the angels to live in paradise forever and ever - pretty neat, huh.
